Welcome to The Lucky Colt

In the 2009 NFL season, I had the opportunity to follow the Indianapolis Colts from game one until their devastating Super Bowl loss to the New Orleans Saints. From that defeat, I have been locked in on the Colts and have followed them through the offseason, regular season, and postseason. I love the Indianapolis Colts and my goal is to provide in depth analysis on games, offseason moves, and share my perspective on the team every year.

Training Camp Outlook – Who is Darrell Baker Jr.?

Aside from those in the Colts organization, CB Darrell Baker Jr. was probably not on anyone’s radar to make a splash in camp and even compete for a starting role on the defense. Darrell Baker Jr. was an undrafted free agent in 2022 from Georgia Southern University. As a redshirt senior in 2021, Baker started…

Training Camp Outlook – The Running Backs

Jonathan Taylor has been at every practice so far this offseason, but with being listed on the PUP and talks of trades, his return is in deep question. To add more questions to this RB room, Zack Moss broke his forearm during Monday’s practice and is expected to be out although training camp and preseason.…

Training Camp Outlook – It is Time for Mo to Step Up on the Field

Since signing a solid 3-year, $17.55M deal in 2022, TE Mo Alie-Cox had a very lackluster 2022 season as he only mustered 19 receptions and 189 yards in 11 starts. Although, a disappointing season, Mo still provides a key factor for this Colts offense with his veteran presence and his familiarity with this organization. The…

As Colts camp is underway, there are several storylines to follow and in a series of articles, I will try and highlight some key storylines inside training camp as we prepare for the preseason. • With the Current RB Market, Where Does That Leave Jonathan Taylor?

With the Current RB Market, Where Does That Leave Jonathan Taylor?

The market value for RBs in today’s NFL is shrinking very rapidly. In a league that once adorned its playmakers with big contracts, and guaranteed money, it has now folded under the pressure of one key factor – Are these playmakers worth the financial investment? On Monday, July 17th the league was rocked with a…

  • 5 Linebackers to Watch Entering the 2023 Season

5 Linebackers to Watch Entering the 2023 Season

While it is easy to try and forget a season riddled with injuries, bad play across the offense, and coaching instability, the defense was one of the few bright spots. One of the shining areas within the Colt’s defense was the linebacking core as their top two tacklers were linebackers. LB Bobby Okereke was second…

  • 5 Receivers to Watch Entering the 2023 Season

5 Receivers to Watch Entering the 2023 Season

The receiving core for Indianapolis was less than stellar last year with their leading receiver, Michael Pittman Jr., far and away leading the team with 99 receptions but for only a 9.3 yard average. He also lead the team in TD receptions with only 4 and for everyone on that receiving line, tight ends included,…

  • The Tough Road Ahead for a Rookie QB

The Tough Road Ahead for a Rookie QB

The Indianapolis Colts have made it abundantly clear that the process with QB Anthony Richardson is built upon patience and trusting the process. According to GM, Chris Ballard the Colts drafted Richardson for “what (they) think he can really be in the future”. Colt owner Jim Irsay mentioned during an interview with Pat McAfee that…
