Welcome to The Lucky Colt

In the 2009 NFL season, I had the opportunity to follow the Indianapolis Colts from game one until their devastating Super Bowl loss to the New Orleans Saints. From that defeat, I have been locked in on the Colts and have followed them through the offseason, regular season, and postseason. I love the Indianapolis Colts and my goal is to provide in depth analysis on games, offseason moves, and share my perspective on the team every year.

Indiana Jones and the Undefeated Colts

The Indianapolis Colts are 3-0 and are looking to shock the NFL while being led by Daniel Jones.

Before the season began, it is safe to say that few had the Colts starting off the season 3-0 on their prediction card. According to some experts at NFL.com, the Colts were projected to only win four to five games this season and be the worst team in the AFC South. Through Week 3, the Colts are sitting on top of the AFC South and sit tied on top of the AFC. How are they achieving so much, so early?

Daniel Jones is the reason why this team is clicking on all cylinders. He is playing with utmost poise, consistency, and resilience, and this is the kind of quarterback the Colts have been searching for since 2019. Despite any skepticism surrounding Jones, one thing is obvious – the Colts are winning and are contenders in the AFC and it is all because of Daniel Jones.

Jones’ Historical Start to the Season

The Colts are 3-0 for the first time since they last appeared in the Super Bowl in 2009. In that year, Daniel Jones wasn’t even in high school yet. Fast forward to 2025 and Jones is leading to Colts just as Peyton Manning led them back then. The big question surrounding Jones was whether or not he would bounce back from his rough time in New York. This question has been completely dismantled with a resounding yes! He did bounce back and is doing so better than ever.

Through three weeks, Jones is third in the league in passing yards with 816. He is also second in the league, behind Lamar Jackson, in yards per attempt, fifth in passing percentage, third in passer ratings, and is tied for first in passes of over 40 yards. (All of these stats are for quarterbacks with 50 or more attempts). Needless to say, Jones is playing at an unbelievable level and he has yet to turn the ball over.

The skeptics are being silence and the haters are being put to shame. Daniel Jones has shown, not once or twice, but three times, that he is a quarterback who is ready and able to lead the Colts. He will have a bad interception here and there, and will take bad sacks, but the verdict is clear. The Colts have found their franchise quarterback and the good news is that he is only 28 years old.

Jones’ Support on Offense

On top of having a great quarterback, a team must also have a great supporting cast. The Colts have the whole package in 2025 and it begins with the offensive line. Through three games, the line has only given up two sacks which is the lowest for quarterbacks with 50 or more attempts. With this, Jones has plenty of time in the pocket to survey the field and make the right read. This also allows for star running back, Jonathan Taylor, to have another MVP-like start to the season as he currently leads the league in rushing yards.

To further add to the array of talent, Michael Pittman Jr., Alec Pierce, Josh Downs, and rookie Tyler Warren also have great starts to the season. All four receivers have 97 yards or more to start the season with Pittman and Warren leading the team with 193 receiving yards each.

The Colts had a great win in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans by blowing out a struggling team. Week 4 will be a different test as the Los Angeles Rams are coming off a tough loss against the defending Super Bowl champion, Philadelphia Eagles.
