The 2-0 Colts will go on the road to face the 0-2 Titans. This will be the first division game for the Colts and their first road game of the season.
This division rivalry between the Colts and Titans has been dominated by the Colts in recent years with Indy winning the last four meetings. The Colts would like to keep that streak going and by all accounts they should be able to, given the performance of Tennessee these first two weeks and the performance of Indy these first two weeks. This being said, though, the Titans will not be an easy matchup nor should they be underestimated in any way.
While it is never wise to underestimate any team, often times there is good reason to. The Titans, thus far, have not shown on defense or offense that they can match the Colts defense and offense. Their young quarterback, Cam Ward, has shown signs of life, but ultimately is still very young, very raw, and still developing. Their defense has allowed 26 points per game and 150 rushing yards per game. Nonetheless, these division games rarely play out by the numbers and therefore, the Colts need to be wary. Here are three reasons why Indy must not underestimate the Tennessee Titans.

The Titans Are In a Desperate Need of a Win
0-2 is certainly not a death sentence in the NFL, but it is a very tough position to overcome. The Titans are a young football team facing adversity very early. Therefore, they will have huge amounts of motivation and urgency to finally get a win, especially against a divisional opponent at home.
Starting the season 0-2 is one thing’ going 0-3 is entirely a different adversity to overcome. In an article by Sport Illustrated, sine 1990, only four teams have made the postseason after starting 0-3. As mentioned, the Titans are a young football team who would love to get back to the postseason. Therefore, they absolutely cannot afford to go 0-3 if they want to keep that hope alive.

The Titans Are a Division Rival
It cannot be stressed enough that division games play out very unpredictably. A struggling team can go into a division game and come out with a head full of steam and primed for a winning streak. The Colts would love to avoid being that spark for the Titans. However, if the Titans are going to get a spark to get them back on track this season, it will be this Week 3 matchup against the Colts.
As mentioned the Colts have won the last four meetings. However, leading up to that point, the Titans had won the previous five meetings. This was back when Tennessee was dominating the AFC South. 2025 is a completely different look for both teams and the start of a new era of rivalry.

The Titans Have a Young and Promising Team
The Titans are led by rookie quarterback, Cam Ward who was the first overall pick in this year’s draft. As is typically the norm with young quarterbacks, Ward has struggled so far. Through two games, he only has one touchdown, is completing 50% of his passes, and has been sacked, for a league high, 11 times. Despite a lot of concerns, Ward has shown slight glimpses as to why he was the first overall pick. In Week 2, he had a spectacular touchdown pass which showcased his incredible arm strength. He has also been relatively careful with the football as he does not have any interceptions and has one fumble.
The Titans are waiting for a breakout game for Ward. Every rookie quarterback needs a game in which they instill full confidence in their team and fans. Could Sunday be that game Ward and the Titans?
