For the first time since the Colts Super Bowl appearance in the 2009 season, the Colts have started 2-0. While there is no super bowl guarantee with a start like this, there is no question that this Colts team is different.
The most important player on a football team is the quarterback and for the Colts, there best and most consistent player is their quarterback. Daniel Jones has been near perfect this season with making good decisions, the right read, and keeping the ball out of harms way. Through two games, he is completing 71% of his passes for 588 yards and five total touchdowns. Needless to say, Jones is the reason why this team is 2-0. Jones is the reason why this team has a real shot to not just get back to the playoffs, but to win the AFC South and be a contender in the playoffs.
There is no question that the buzz around the Colts is real. This team is different. It is not simply the fact that they are 2-0, but it’s the fact that they are playing with confidence, consistency, and efficiency. Here are three overreactions from their victory in Week 2.

Daniel Jones Will Win Comeback player of the Year
Daniel Jones was the sixth overall pick in 2019 by the New York Giants and had a very promising rookie season. Despite having some bumps in the road along away, Jones managed to lead the Giants to a playoff birth in 2022 and won a playoff game against the Minnesota Vikings. Going into 2023, Jones signed a big contract extension and was believed to be the next franchise quarterback. Unfortunately, things did not pan out out and after getting benched, and requesting to be released, Jones’ time in New York would come to a close.
When it was announced that the Colts signed Jones, there were many mixed emotions with many criticizing the decision. Needless to say, Jones was not a hot item on the trade market and for good reason. He was considered a first-round bust and would probably become a career-backup. That was until the Colts gave him a chance, made him QB1, and surrounded him with enough talent and support to succeed. Sitting at 2-0, Daniel Jones is on his way to bring another AFC South title back to Indianapolis and on his way to winning Comeback Player of the Year.

Jonathan Taylor Will Be the Best Running Back In the NFL
One thing that Colts fans wanting to see in 2025, was a comeback from Jonathan Taylor. Although, he is still very talented, Taylor has not been as productive since his all-pro 2021 season. In 2024, he showed signs of brilliance with a 1400 yard season and 11 touchdowns. This season could be the one where he further helps carry the Colts back to the playoffs. The running game is a vital part of the Colts offense and it is one that must be efficient to compliment Daniel Jones. Therefore, Jonathan Taylor, with a 165 yard performance against the Broncos, will be one, if not the best running back in the league.
This Colts offense is clicking on all cylinders and it starts with the running attack. If Taylor can continue to be efficient and consistent as the league is already seeing, he will be the best running back at the end of the year. His dual threat ability with running and pass-catching will prove to the x-factor to the success of this season.

The Defense Is the Weak Link on This Team
Although there is excitement surrounding the Colts 2-0 start, and rightfully so, there is one glooming issue that needs to be addressed. Although the Colts offense has looked fantastic, the defense, especially in Week 2, looked suspect at best. For starters, cornerback Jaylon Jones was out and therefore Xavien Howard had to step in. To put things lightly, Howard struggled. On top of that, the Colts allowed the Broncos to run for an average of 4.9 per rush. They were also three for three in the red zone and did not record a sack. Needless to say, the defense was the weak link on Sunday. The cornerbacks looks soft, the linebackers looked timid with tackling, and the defensive line was not aggressive enough. This cannot continue if the Colts want to make it to the playoffs.
